Shower the People You Love with Love!!!

Soothing a sad sibling...

"It's OK little guy"

"Thanks Big Brover"

"Mommy, look. I am making Noah feel better."

and the silliness begins...

Mooggers, tears and smiles!!

and all is well again...

Showering little brother with silly love!!!

Since my WONDERFUL (well ok, frantic and reactive) decision to remove the movies from our car, we have been listening to lots of music. The best thing is that we have a 6 CD changer, so each boy gets one CD and I get (in all fairness) four!!! So, needless to say JT is in there. Both Sam and Noah have come to appreciate my Sweet Baby James!!! Copperline is their favorite. Sam, has however, taken a liking to Shower the People. After listening to that song today, he declared that he could feel his heart filling with love and that he was going to shower the people he loves with love. He then proceeded to ask me how to do that without getting wet.

Stuck in the Muck!

STUCK IN THE MUCK!!!!!

Thank God, it is the end of vacation week. A week that I always look forward to, overschedule and then about midweek, begin to dread. I love having both boys home with me and we usually have a blast, however, this week I needed a time out... I am a mommy train wreck...Stuck in the Muck.!!! You would think I'd get it by now, but I don't. Instead of moderation, I chose to schedule the hell out of some days and absolutely nothing on other days. Soooo, as I am sure you have already figured out..the boys were a mess. Too stretched and tired some days, bored and antsy other days. Not a great way for any of us to spend the week.

It was easier to climb this wall than navigate mommy's moods this week!!

So now, I am trying to regroup, put my big girl panties on and return to the land of Goodmommy. The snow should help. Wish me luck....

Mommy, You're Fired!

Ok, so maybe I was a bit overconfident thinking that I would blog a few times a week. Here is my excuse: Life. Life got in my way, funny how it does that...

So, I will give a quick update and then move on to ponder how I will successfully and consistently maintain this little blog.

Christmas-was eventful!!! The weekend before Christmas, Peter ended up flat on his back, having done some major damage to himself trying to get back into tennis a little too quickly. On Christmas Eve, Noah and I found ourselves in the Emergency Room. Thinking that we would get a hefty dose of antibiotics and then head home, I put him in his jammies and drove to the ER. Unfortunately for us that was not the case. Noah was admitted and we spent the next three days cooped up in the hospital. He had a nasty infection that was not responding to IV antibiotics. Eventually the Docs perfected the cocktail and the infection dissipated and we went home. Sam and Peter and Uncle Trouble had an unusual Christmas eve and morning at the house and then joined us in the hospital for a lovely cafeteria dinner and some present opening. All in all, Noah was an angel and the crisis was over quickly. I did promise myself to have an extra glass of wine every Christmas Eve from now on just to help remember how lucky we are to be together (at least that is what I am telling myself!!).

Figgy Pudding anyone?
Christmas Dinner, YUM YUM!!
On our way home

At this point I can't even remember New Year's Eve. I know we were all quite sick, but I think it was fairly uneventful.

January-Grandpa Jim Jim visited for a long weekend. the boys were fortunate enough to get some major bonding time with him. We had a wonderful family weekend that included lots of time from Trouble!!!

Sam turned "actually5". We had a Justice League Bash with many mini superheroes running around and lots of silly string everywhere (thanks for cleaning it all up mom!!). He chose to be Wonder Woman for his big day and I must say that Peter handled that BEAUTIFULLY!!! Sam has taken the ripe old age of 5 very seriously with some major accomplishments. He has begun reading and is sounding out every word that his eyes can spy!! He has been SUPER to his little brother, acting very mature and with such selflessness. He has also finally stopped wearing a diaper at night (I am keeping my fingers crossed) and is doing really well keeping his bed dry!!!

Wonder Woman in all her glory!!Super Noah!!

Peter has recovered from his back injury, Noah has become a healthy little terror and I am trying to navigate my new position as 'she who runs the house'. Donna is no longer with us and the piles of laundry that I have to show for it are TRAGIC!!! Sam told me yesterday that I was "fired". Obviously, I need to work on my homemaker skills; if only I could figure out how to blog and fold laundry at the same time....

No Touchy Touchy

I love this time of year!!! The boys wake up every morning and look for our 'Elf on the Shelf' named Callileo. He has been watching over our home since Thanksgiving, in a different spot everyday. I often find Sam talking to him-"Callileo, please tell Santa that I ate my whole breakfast and used my manners." Noah simply stares up at him and says- "No touchy, touchy." Both boys write notes or pictures for Santa and use Callileo as their currier. Santa has been writing LOTS of thank you notes. And of course Sam had to ask Santa for a picture of all of his artwork in his workshop. Thank God for Adobe Photo Shop!!!!

Christmas Treasures

This morning Noah was playing with play-doh and came out to show me his homemade snake. I noticed that he had some orange around his mouth and reminded him that play-doh is not to eat, but to play with. "But daddy said" was his response. I quickly stated that daddy did not tell him it was ok to eat play-doh. "But, Santa said, mommy".

Isn't it interesting how quickly they pick up your tricks!!! "Noah, Santa is watching"-right back at me!!! Too funny...

Winters Offerings

The first snow!!!! Noah was asking for his snowsuit before he was out of his jammies. These beautiful snow persons were his very own creations. The wonder of snow and winter and Frosty in a child is something to behold. This little boy was convinced that once Frosty had a head he would begin talking. Imagine his dismay when both heads were affixed and not one "Happy Birthday" was uttered. And unfortunately, it began to rain only a few inches into our 'storm of 2007', so the snow time was limited. Sam, Noah and I later went out to shovel slush and watch Frosty's nose, eyes and buttons slide to the wet grass below. What amazed me about Noah was the love and effort with which he created these two magical creatures and the glee he experienced watching them dissolve.

Sam on the other hand was very busy making waterways in the piles of snow. He figured out that he could make the water go anywhere he wanted it to by making paths in the snow with his fingers. He was giddy with the sense of power he derived from completely controlling nature. A Roman in the making?? Once the aqueducts were completed, it was on to snow angels and wet rear ends. One minute a budding architect, the next a silly, giggling baby angel. That child is such a trip!!!

And here is the proof, for any doubters, that the tree has been purchased and is standing in our living room. Any bets on how long it stays naked? It is a very fat, happy tree in a not-so-big stand. Very much like me in heels, it is teetering on the edge of keeling over on the first person who comes to close. It could literally swallow Noah whole.

Fat Christmas trees with little white lights, Billy Holiday singing on cold winter nights, eggnog and hot cocoa after snowball flings, these are a few of my favorite things!!!
